STEM Workshop

On Tuesday Aroha Tahi did a STEM workshop. STEM stands for Science-Technology-Engineering-Maths. Mrs Akkerman showed us a few videos that had the tallest towers around the world. Gabbie, Athens, Zoe and I found the tallest buildings straight then curved at the top. Mrs Akkerman then told us what we had to do. We had to get into groups of two, three or four and make the tallest and most stable structure using only fifty straws, ten pipe cleaners and ten paper clips. Our goal was to hold a golf ball for two minutes with our structure, (not using our hands) and we had around about an hour to make it. My team was Athens H, Zoe H, and Gabbie Way.  Our structure was probably the tallest, but couldn't hold the golf ball for two minutes.
